In Development: New Spells & Abilities

Time for another sneak peek at what’s in development for Albion Online. Today, we’re revealing four new upcoming spells!

Cador offered an abundance of new spells, but there are still plenty more to come! Today we’re taking a look at future spells and abilities that are currently in development.

Please note: these spells are all still a work in progress and details might differ in the final version.

Flame Orb

The Flame Orb spell will be an addition to the two-handed Fire Staff. It fires an orb in a straight line, dealing damage and applying a DoT to everyone in its way. Flame Orb does not disappear on impact, making it a very powerful attack when aimed wisely.


Tackle will be found on the two-handed Hammer. When using it you will charge to a place of your choice, stunning all enemies on your path.


The Claymore will see the return of a charge attack. Use it to you charge towards your enemy, making you two inseparable for a moment. It’s the perfect attack to catch and lock down kiting, or fleeing, foes.


Located on the Quarterstaff, the Tornado spell will offer a ranged alternative for melee players. Swinging your staff rapidly, you charge up a tornado which you then send off in a straight line towards your foes.

Imagine 20 people casting those fire orbs into a big zerg lol. Zerg buster inc?

I would certainly like to know about the map rework. Are you guys going to use procedural generation to get a huge world map? Are you guys going to adapt the growth of resources and the spawnrates of npcs on a map based on the average amount of players running around in it during the past day? This is not the Map Rework blog post that we were promised. You don't even have in game screenshots or concept art for most of these abilities here. Just 20 word paragraphs about some spells you plan to implement and what they might do. This is hardly a News Post, and It's not hard to see why people are losing interest in this game. Nice, you guys are doing great with the game. Progress may be slow (not really), but it's steady (which I prefer much more than rushed content, as I'm sure many others would agree). Can't wait to see the new world when you guys finish it, I'm really hoping that it makes the game much more immersive (just like how shadows make the graphics look 10x more realistic). Opinion on Flame Orb: Add more of a particle effect around the edges. Right now it looks more like a meteor, or molten boulder. It should look more like Diablo 3's "Frozen Orb", but firey. The Flame Orb in Open World PvP may be very viable for Zoning/Damage.

Tackle seems like the Diablo 3 ROS Barbarian Mechanic, which also could be useful in Open World PvP or if your opponents in a GvG are in a choke and you burst through all of them before they get to the tent or point.

Charge may be good for small group ganking or duels.

Tornado, I personally would have to see how long the channel is and what exactly the tornado does to your opponents to be able to make a theory upon what it is best for. NONTHELESS it will give qs users something new.
