Albion Armory: Shankz’s All-In Wailing Bow
One perfect shot is all it takes to shift the battle’s favor on your team’s side, just one! Don’t let the beads of sweat on your forehead disturb you. Take a deep breath, focus, aim, and then… release your arrow to victory.
About the All-In Wailing Bow
“ZvZ (editor note: Zerg vs Zerg) is typically all about numbers as if you lack numbers, you lack the damage. So I came up with the idea of creating a zerg-buster build that would allow smaller numbers to evenly fight larger zergs,” Shankz starts about the creation of his build. “Using the All-In Wailing Bow, you are legit all-in as every single skill is chosen to cap your total damage bonus before launching the Demon Arrow to one-shot multiple characters in you enemy’s backline.”
The All-In Wailing Bow build is an extremely efficient build for huge skirmishes and massive fights in general, but it is also capable of dealing good damage in smaller matches.
Being created around the Demon Arrow ability, the build offers huge range with great base damage that increases when hitting multiple enemies at once. Basically, the more enemies you are fighting, the more potential damage you can deal.
With every single skill in this build being picked to multiply your already high base damage, the Demon Arrow becomes a more and more devastating one-shot threat every second you can prepare the launch of your final attack.
However, the All-In Wailing Bow’s survivability is close to non-existent, especially when caught off guard in the preparation phase before launching the Demon Arrow, and you need to hide within your group to be safe from incoming attacks.
Weapon of Choice: Wailing Bow
Hit all enemies in a cone in front of you.
Leap 9 meters backward, while at the same time firing a frost arrow at the ground in front of you, slowing anyone hit.
Fires a demonic arrow that pierces through enemies. Each enemy hit strengthens the arrow, causing it to do more damage to subsequent targets.
Every 4 normal attacks, all your damage gets increased for a few seconds.
All skills on the Wailing Bow are chosen to support the stacking of Obsessive Burst. As Multishot nor Frost Shot need a target to be used and both are on a low cooldown, they are the optimal choice for the job at hand. On top of that, both skills are valuable assets in a fight against large groups. The slow in combination with a huge leap backward, makes Frost Shot also a great tool to keep yourself alive.
The optimal usage of Demon Arrow requires some training. It helps a lot that Demon Arrow is fired off instantly, but due to the narrow and long path the arrow is traveling you need to fire it in the right direction to hit multiple targets.
Helmet: Royal Hood
As long as you don’t deal damage, you keep stacking up a damage increase of 10% per second. As soon as you deal damage, the stacking stops and the current increase stays active for a few seconds.
Reduces all cooldown times.
Not much to say about the Royal Hood. Growing Rage provides a free and easy 60% damage buff and Quick Thinker allows you to get your next combo going sooner.
Chest: Druid Robe
Increases your damage by 8% for 10s. During this time, each time you activate an ability, this effect is multiplied up to 8 times.
Increases your damage and heal power.
Another easy-to-use damage buff. Using any skill, even without hitting an enemy will stack up the buff and will increase the damage of your Demon Arrow.
Boots: Royal Sandals
Increases your movement speed by 75%, and your damage by 20% for a few seconds. While Defenseless Rush is active, your armor is reduced.
Increases your damage and heal power.
The huge movement speed buff allows you to quickly get away if you’re approached by enemies, but most of the time you will find yourself using Defenseless Rush to stack your total damage bonus for your Demon Arrow. In this case, the movement speed increase allows you to stack your buffs in a much safer position before rushing into the direction of your actual target.
Consumables: Food and Potions
Improves your overall damage.
Major Healing Potion
Regenerates a percentage of your total health over 10 seconds.
Being all about damage, the only option for the All-In Wailing Bow is to increase your total damage even further using Stews. Healing Potions will keep your health up should you take damage.
You can use your food or your potion to get another stack of Obsessive Burst! Always have a few extra rations with you to stack your damage buff faster when needed.
Tips, Tricks, and Combos
The optimal rotation for a total of +64% damage from Obsessive Burst would be:
Obsessive Burst -> Multishot -> Frost Shot -> Food/Potion -> Multishot -> Food/Potion -> Multishot -> Growing Rage -> Defenseless Rush -> Demon Arrow
However, this rotation requires perfect execution as you have a very narrow time window to launch off your Demon Arrow after stacking. It will require some training to get it down perfectly, especially if you have to check your own positioning and the positions of your targets. Still, the final damage is worth the hassle!
The base damage of Demon Arrow is increased up to four times for each target it hits on its way. Choose your target wisely and use your enemy’s frontline to increase the damage of your Demon Arrow before it reaches your actual target in the backline.
When you are waiting for cooldowns, play it safe and hide in your team’s backline. Even with Defenseless Rush and Frost Shot ready, you are vulnerable and an easy target. Yet, you will forget the lack of sustained damage, the moment you pop three or more of your enemy’s backline DPS with a single arrow!
When your abilities’ cooldowns are ready, start closing in on your own team’s frontline to look for your next target. If you cannot find a proper target, don’t waste your skills and take a few seconds to find a more appropriate target. An instant kill is always worth a lot more than just damage which can be healed up again.
