Rise of Avalon Patch 7 / Brimstone & Mist Midseason Update - Ver. 1.17.406 / REV 177096 - 21 October 2020

Corrupted Dungeons: New Boss, Enemies, and Traps

New boss:

  • Demonic Harbinger: Exceptionally powerful and wrathful demon general; wields a massive sword that inflicts heavy bash, slash, and shockwave damage

New enemies:

  • Hellhound: Relatively weak enemy, but can call other Hellhounds to itself
  • Demonic Mauler: Demon with strong regenerative powers that can consume its allies to heal itself
  • Demonic Predator: Variant of the Spiked Demon that leaps on and slows enemies
  • Deranged Heretic Arbalist: New Corrupted Heretic that wields dual crossbows

New traps:

  • Abyssal Impaler: Nasty spike trap that completely ignores armor
  • Infernal Breach: Fissure that releases waves of magma

Corrupted Dungeon Changes

  • Demonic Shards:
    • Shard health doubled on Slayer difficulty
  • Demonic Warlock Boss:
    • Rupture Firewall now inflicts slow instead of knockback
    • Phase change is more diverse; teleport circle is smaller
  • Demonic Underlord:
    • Rage bonus damage: 100% → 75%
    • Invincibility removed during Rage cast
  • Silence Hazard:
    • Effect area now starts small and grows over time
    • Outer ring removed; cloud now indicates affected area
  • Knockback Hazard:
    • Area duration: 0.7s → 0.2s
    • Now grants Infamy and Fame for any mobs killed
  • Heretic Thief:
    • "Fan of Knives" spell behavior improved when cast near walls
  • Demonic Slaver:
    • Slight size increase
  • The /suicide command is now unavailable during and just before an invasion

Smart Cluster Queue Changes

The following changes give players more control over how they set up armies for the queue. Player sorting is now done on a per-party level, meaning the system will attempt to keep existing parties together:

  • Party leaders can now assign a Party Cluster Access Priority for their party as well as for individual members in the Cluster Access Priority UI (accessed via the party leader's player context menu)
  • Priority Access determines the order in which parties will enter an overcrowded cluster
  • This gives alliances more control over which forces are moved into the cluster and keeps party structures intact
  • The Preferred Cluster Access Guild Right has been removed
  • The queue now moves players from a single contingent either in or out during a given cycle, so players of the same contingent no longer replace each other

Disarray (Zerg Debuff) Changes

New Disarray parameters ensure the ZvZ meta plays out in a similar way across a wide range of fight sizes, while still offering smaller groups protection from large armies:

  • Disarray is no longer a flat debuff
  • Instead, it reduces damage output and CC Duration when attacking targets with a lower Disarray level
  • Against targets with the same or higher Disarray level, Disarray has no impact on your stats
  • Damage reduction depends on the difference of Disarray levels between attacker and target - the higher the difference, the greater the effect
  • Increased Disarray player cap; debuff now caps at Level 50 for 450 players

Fishing in Roads of Avalon

  • Fishable areas can now be found in every Roads of Avalon zone
  • Three new fish species exclusive to the Roads of Avalon have been introduced:
    • Whitefog Snapper (T3)
    • Clearhaze Snapper (T5)
    • Puremist Snapper (T7)
  • These fish can be turned into Chopped Fish or used in new recipes (see next section)
  • NOTE: Due to extensive terrain changes, players in any Roads zone when the update goes live will be transported to one of the zone's portal entrances (does not affect players in Hideouts)

New Food Line: Roasts

  • Raw Chicken, Goose, and Pork can now be roasted to create three new foods: Roast Chicken (T3), Roast Goose (T5), and Roast Pork (T7)
    • Give Lifesteal that increases with tier and enchantment level
    • Recipes require base meat + milk + crop
  • The new Roads of Avalon fish can also be roasted to create Roasted Whitefog Snapper (T3), Roasted Clearhaze Snapper (T5), and Roasted Puremist Snapper (T7)
    • Give Lifesteal and Increased Max Health that increase with tier and enchantment level
    • Recipes require base fish + crop + herb + milk
  • Destiny Board nodes added / updated:
    • T3 roasts are available with unlock of Sous Chef node
    • Higher-level roasts are unlocked by progressing in the Chef node
    • New specialization node, Roast Chef, added to the Chef node
  • Like all foods, roasts can be enchanted with Fish Sauce

New Hardcore Expedition Levels Added

  • Added 3 additional levels of Hardcore Expeditions on top of the current 15
  • The difficulty of each of these levels (16-18) is approximately 5% higher than the preceding level, with rewards scaled accordingly
  • Finishing a Level 18 Expedition in time rewards a valuable Loot Chest instead of a new Expedition Map

Visual Minimap Rework

Minimaps for selected zone types have been updated to improve visual quality and readability, and to look and feel more consistent with the overall game aesthetic. Affected zones:

  • All city minimaps, including Royal Cities, Outlands Cities, and Starter Towns
  • Player Islands
  • Guild Islands
  • City Banks
  • City Marketplaces

Crafting Changes

  • Faction Capes and Royal Armors now retain the quality of the Cape / Armor used to create them
  • As Faction Capes do not benefit from or contribute to Cape Tailoring Specialization, Fame gain was removed from this crafting process to keep it in line with other conversion processes such as Royal Armors
  • Increased crafting focus cost of bread to be in line with the nutritional return of other crafting processes.
  • Butchery focus now available:
    • Farm animals can now be butchered with focus to get more meat. (You don't get your animal back. It's dead. There's no coming back from that.)
    • As part of this change, the nutritional value of meat has been adjusted to better reflect the overall crafting progression.

Mobile Improvements and Fixes

  • [Android] Delta Patching added, which will affect the future update experience – please see this forum post for more info: https://forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/138782
  • Spell effects now show more consistently
  • Improved memory consumption on lower-end devices; mobile version now remains stable longer in overcrowded zones
  • Added an option for limiting players visible in crowded cities to General Settings
  • Added an option for hiding non-guild and alliance members' nametags in cities to Interface Settings
  • Reactivated intro video
  • Increased UI scaling of World Map

Updated Mob Spells

  • Added unique spells for each Resource Mob type in the Roads of Avalon:

    • Forest Spirit: deploys three piercing roots
    • Rock Elemental: summons a rock wall
    • Ore Elemental: summons three exploding crystals

  • Avalonian Wizard Bomb spell (Energy Discharge):
    • Now gives longer warning to leave damage area
    • Damage reduced by 20%
    • Pause after casting: 5s → 7s

Knight Adventurer Bundle

This new Premiere Vanity Bundle, available in the ingame store, includes ten vanity unlocks with a vivid blue crystal theme. The centerpiece is the Warbanner, a main-hand costume weapon that includes two premium animated emotes. The bundle also includes guild versions of the helmet, armor, cape, and armored horse skin.

General Improvements

  • Added optional per-language profanity filter that can be toggled via Settings
  • Updated spell icons for the following E-slot spells:

    • Black Monk Staff - Fatal Blade

    • Cursed Skull - Haunting Screams
    • Damnation Staff - Cataclysm
    • Infernal Staff - Contagious Fire
    • Wildfire Staff - Magma Sphere
    • Great Holy Staff - Holy Explosion
  • [WINDOWS] Integrated IME keyboard input system (for non-Western languages) added:
    • This option can be turned on / off in Settings
    • Using the game's native IME input (versus a Windows overlay) solves input issues that existed for certain screen resolutions
    • Note: this feature is currently only available for Windows version 10.0.19xxx and below 10.0.18xxx

Satchel of Insight Changes

  • Crafting Satchels of Insight now requires only a single Tome of Insight instead of a Randomized Dungeon Map
  • This change also reverts a prior change that increased drop rates of flat Tier 4 Randomized Dungeon Maps

Other Changes

  • Gathering speed penalty, when gathering with a tool one tier lower than that of the resource, has been reduced by half, meaning gathering resources one tier above that of the tool is now faster
  • When entering a starter city for the first time (i.e. as a new player), the corresponding Royal City will be logged as the "last city" respawn location – re-entering a starter city will not overwrite any already-logged respawn location
